Police and Crime Commissioners

In August 2008 Marc Hogan was bet £1 that he couldn’t become a stand up comic in less than 12 months and perform a one man comedy show at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in August 2009 for 21 nights. He won the bet!

Commissioning present participle of com·mis·sion (Verb)

Verb: Give an order for or authorize the production of (something such as a building, piece of equipment, or work of art).
Order or authorize (a person or organization) to do or produce something.

No wonder nobody voted for the darn things, how can you have a commissioner of crime?

“Yes I’m the new commissioner of policing, so I’m going to commission more policemen on our street, but we do need to give them something to do so I’m planning to commission more street crime, most likely house theft, mugging and petty vandalism.”

15% of the population turned out to vote. More people probably vote for Strictly Come Dancing than for PCCs, but to be fair if John Prescott had campaigned in a tight fitting sequined shirt slashed to the naval whilst doing the tango I would have voted for him…
