Tonights Gig!

Can Marc Hogan, a man who’s never performed stand-up comedy before in his life have a successful show at the Edinburgh Festival – all to win a £1 bet?

What a night! 30 people – the youngest 18 the oldest 65! I knew about 50% of the audience and the other 50% were strangers!

Raised £90.00 for charity, and the gig went well! I’m still making mistakes – (my director Phil Whelans is really good at helping me spot them and finding solutions).

However tonight was the definitely best gig so far, still a way to go , but I’m beginning to believe I can survive Edinburgh!!

I’ve got a final gig this Tuesday, hopefully I can build on tonight!

Now I’m going to watch a movie – too excited to sleep!

Tuesday 28th July 8:30 pm- Show starts at 8:45
ST JOHN’S CHURCH HALL
Station Road, Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead HP1 1JY
See map

Gig is for charity – £3.00 donation (on the door) going to Dacorum Emergency Homeless Shelter.

Content is for over 15’s only!

P.S.

If you are coming to Edinburgh you can now book tickets for the show here.

The Lovely Ian Kendall

Can Marc Hogan, a man who’s never performed stand-up comedy before in his life have a successful show at the Edinburgh Festival – all to win a £1 bet?

It always amazes me how helpful people can be.

Over the last few months so many people have given me their advice and time to help me be ready for Edinburgh.

Recently Ian Kendall a magician (who is doing his 18th Edinburgh Festival show!!!), emailed and then we chatted on the phone for over an hour as he gave me some top advice about marketing show, and dealing with nerves etc.

He was a really nice guy, what was strange that as I talked to him, I realised I had already met him! He had performed some close up magic for me & Kirsty at the festival last year! I wanted to go to his show but we were actually going home later that day, and couldn’t make it!

His ideas on Marketing obviously work, as he was the only Performer to actually have a conversation with me on the streets of Edinburgh, rather than just hand out a flyer. In fact I can’t remember anyone else who handed out a flyer ( though I have a vague recollection most of them were young and pretty)!

So if you’re coming to Edinburgh, be prepared to talk to me as I tramp up and down Princess Street. I’ll be the only flyerer (?) who is over the age of 30!

I’m definitely going to see Ian’s show and you should too – check him out here http://www.iankendall.com/

Sorry, this has never happened before.

Can Marc Hogan, a man who’s never performed stand-up comedy before in his life have a successful show at the Edinburgh Festival – all to win a £1 bet?

Well, I’ve now survived 3 previews…

Actually it’s going quite well. I certainly have to work on my delivery, its like I’m suffering premature articulation.

“I’m sorry that’s the first time this has happened, usually I never blurt out the punchline to a joke without explaining the set up….could we just cuddle instead?”

No matter I’ve just got to keep learning the lines everywhere I go. I find that if I mumble them on the train, no one sits beside me, so that’s a bonus….

So if I can remember my lines and find an antiperspirant that stops me looking like a drowned rat by the end of the show, I’ll be sorted…
