Can Marc Hogan, a man who’s never performed stand-up comedy before in his life have a successful show at the Edinburgh Festival – all to win a £1 bet?
Well guys it’s really happening, I’m even in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Brochure (page 19).

Can a corporate communications trainer become an Edinburgh festival comic in just 11 months – all to win a £1 bet. Join Marc Hogan somewhere on the learning curve to comedy greatness. (May contain birds.)
I’m very excited – yet I’m beginning to have nightmares about the whole thing! I did a preview show last week and I managed to fill less seats than Labour in the local elections!
I mean what if nobody comes to see it? What if during the whole 3 week run I end up playing to 3 people a night (and one of them is my mum).
I’m also really struggling to learn my lines. When you see a comic, it appears that they are just chatting but the more I learn about it, I realise that every line, every pause, every nuance, every word is scripted, rehearsed and memorised…
I’ve memorized about 1000 words right now – which is about the first 10 minutes! It’s impossible Arnold Schwarzenegger only had 74 words in the whole of Terminator 2!
I memorize presentations all the time, but this is a whole different ball game, I’ve never had to memorize every single line before!
How do I remember 6000 words? A fellow speaker mentioned something about fish oil, it stinks, and my cat keeps licking me, perhaps I was meant to eat it? I can’t remember….
